WHAT ARE DIAMOND CUT WHEELS AND WHY HAVE THEM.
The simple answer to this question is because they look absolutely superb when new, which is why the leading manufacturers like BMW, Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes fit them on their top of the range cars. Stunning looks, expensive wheels equals higher resale values, but cutting edge design and great aesthetics comes at a price and some inconvenience as their durability is an issue, but presumably if you can afford a top of the range car you can also afford the costs of wheel maintenance.
Now because more high end and mid tier car manufacturers fitting Diamond cut wheels, here at Alloy Circles we have our own in-house diamond cutting machine, so we are able to refurbish your alloys back to their very best with the look your car deserves.
All wheels in for a full refurbishment are inspected first for any buckles or flat spots which would adversely affect the wheels alignment inside the CNC lathe, if any are found to be damaged we are sorry to say that it probably means they cannot be refurbished without straightening, but here at Alloy Circles that's no problem as we are able to rectify this problem with our hydraulic wheel straightener and as a gesture of goodwill we offer to straighten them at half our normal rate.
HOW IS DIAMOND CUTTING DONE?
After wheel preparation steps 1, 2 and 3 are completed (please refer to our process page) we achieve top class results by powder coating the entire alloy wheel with a primer first coat, then a powder coated second coat in the a colour of your choice. After the wheels have cooled we then with a ruby tipped probe digitize the surface of the wheel to be cut, a Diamond tipped cutter then removes a thin layer of metal from the face and lip of the wheel with each pass it makes. Professional CNC machines can only be operated by trained operatives, because if the profile of the Alloy is not mapped out correctly the wheel can be damaged by the cutter. When the Diamond cutting process is finished all wheels are powder coated with a very durable, premium quality, ultra clear lacquer which gives any car a really prestigious makeover.
Our Diamond cut Alloy wheel refurbishment process usually takes 4 or 5 days, any less time would mean we would not able to fully prepare and refurbish your wheels properly.
